Every day that I work on this project, I'm blown away by the level of creativity and talent that has flocked to join it! Below you can see some of the character studies our artist Ryan has been working on.
We want every playable lineage to feel believable according to archaeological data and still look awesome! We are setting a new standard for RPG design! Just look at the wing study on the Pterosauria.
Every lineage is inspired by a dinosaur family
This gives players the power to play any type of Ceratopsian that they want, be it Torosaurus, a Diabloceratops, or a Spiclypeus.
Gen Con: Our Events!
If you're attending Gen Con, then we have four different events for you to sign up for: Sige of the Dradnoughtus, In the Dinosaur Dome, The Curse of the Wood Sprite, and The Mystery of the Terrin Caves! At the time of writing this update there are less than 10 tickets available, so if you're interested act fast!
Seige of Dreadnoughtus - Hardoon, the last city of hope in a world teetering on annihilation, is soon to fall under siege by Dreadnoughtus-riding warlords, hellbent on sacking the sanctuary, and everything within its walls.
In the Dinosaur Dome - The party is trapped under an impenetrable dome. Trapped with them are scores of savage and hungry dinosaurs! Will they survive long enough to discover the secret to escaping the Dome?
The Curse of the Wood Sprite - Rot and sickness has spread throughout the forest. Your party has found 3 Seeds of Decay, but where did they come from? Clues lead to the terrifying herald of the Rot Weaver, the twisted Vine Wolf!
The Mystery of the Terrin Caves - The only way to heal your forest of rot and sickness is to find a cursed dagger called Ember. Your party must venture south to the Verdant Mountains and explore caves once inhabited by Terrin Dobbers. Now it's the home to something much worse!

Greetings, Dinosaur Hunters!
How do you fix a malfunctioning time machine when you risk being transported to who-knows-when just by touching it?
BackerKit surveys are well underway, and everything is going smoothly! Thank you for completing those in a timely manner. If you have not sent in your survey yet, please do so as soon as you can. As mentioned in the previous update, we want to get 80% of the surveys as soon as possible so that we are more confident in our production numbers. It'll help with planning and budgeting. We're nearly past that mark already! While production is still a while away, getting this step checked off now is one step we don't have to worry about later. 👍
Along with the Backerkit survey, the project is moving along smoothly. Darryl is currently reviewing and editing the adventure drafts from our writers. I am responding to your questions as they appear.
Playtesting the Psionic Class
In more exciting news, we're seeking playtesters to test a new class found in A Time Traveler's Guide to Dinosaur Hunting: the Psionic Class! While this is the first playtesting opportunity, this certainly won't be the last. We will have a few more as the project continues to develop, so keep your eyes peeled!
To apply, we have made a Google form for you to fill out. We may not select everyone who applies, but as previously mentioned, you will have more opportunities to apply to playtest in the future, so don't worry! 😊

BackerKit Surveys - Smoke Test & How-To Guide 📝

BackerKit Survey Smoke Test
As previously discussed, we'll manage your pledge and shipping details through Backerkit. We've built the survey and run a few tests, but there are a lot backers and items to coordinate. To ensure there are no mistakes in the setup, Backerkit sends a smoke test before sending the survey to all backers. This test is sent to just 5% of backers. If you are one of the lucky backers to receive a smoke test, expect to see it in the next couple of days.
Smoke tests are extremely valuable. They help us track all possible combinations of sets and add-ons to ensure nothing goes awry.
Once the smoke test finishes...
We will send out the rest of the surveys to everyone after we receive responses to most of the smoke test surveys. We expect this process to take about a week so the backers have time to fill out the smoke test and then for us to review them.
Once we do send out the actual surveys, not all are sent from BackerKit as soon as I hit "send." Depending on the number of backers, they may be staggered. Therefore, it may take a little more time for surveys to reach everyone. Please wait a fewdays to ensureBackerKit has had ample time to send them all. If you don’t receive your survey immediately, that’s completely normal! Thank you for your patience!
When you receive your survey, we ask that you complete it as soon as possible so we can make our orders with the production facility. The longer this step takes, the longer we have to wait for the product! We’re looking to get 80% of the surveys filled before production starts so we can ensure we have enough for everyone.
BackerKit Survey Guide
Once BackerKit sends you an email for the survey, the email will have a link. Click the link. That will take you to your unique survey in Backerkit's system where you can increase your pledge level and purchase add-ons.
1) Select your country for shipping and click "Get Started". If you would like to upgrade to a higher pledge tier, locate the link under the "Get Started" button and click that instead. Please note that if you switch pledge levels, add-ons selected on Kickstarter will not be automatically appliedto BackerKit. You will have the option to add those add-ons back later in the survey process.

2) Please read and answer the question prompts and proceed into the BackerKit "store" (Add-Ons section). These questions will either provide additional information about your pledge or remind you of important information.
3) Once in the store, you’ll see a list of the items included in your Kickstarter pledge to the right of the page. (Your items will look different if you've changed your pledge or upgraded it from the survey. Not to worry, you have the chance to add the add-ons you want here.) On the left, you’ll see the options for add-ons.

4) Once you've selected all the items you want, click "Next".
5) Enter your shipping address and click "Next".
6) Confirm the provided information is correct, pay for extra add-ons or the upgraded pledge level and click "Confirm".

Surveys and addresses will be locked closer to fulfillment so you’ll be able to make changes even after submitting your survey until we let you know otherwise! Payment for outstanding balances will be collected at a later date.

Can I upgrade my pledge through the survey?
Yes! When you get your survey hit the button below "Get Started". This will enable you to up your pledge tier in case you've decided you want a different deal!
My payment didn’t go through and I was dropped from the Kickstarter. What do I do?
Common reasons why your survey may not have reached you!
Backerkits email sending procedure is staggered. Please wait a fewdays to ensureBackerKit has had ample time to send them all.
1) Confirm what email address you used to pledge on Kickstarter! The survey will be emailed to that address. If you used a private relay Apple ID to pledge on Kickstarter, you'll need to contact the support team to update your email address with BackerKit.
Please be sure to include your Apple ID email or, if failing that, the name associated with your Kickstarter account in your message to support.
2) Double-check your junk/spam folder. Sometimes the filters sweep up our precious survey emails 😠
If after completing all of these steps you're still unable to locate your survey and you’ve waited a few days for it to come in, reach out to support at [email protected] or join the Discord!

March is Going to be Busy!
I got used to the weekly updates; it feels like it's been a while since we last spoke! Just a reminder, we do intend to have monthly updates to keep you all posted on how the project is coming along. Occasionally we may have updates more frequently if we feel that something is time-sensitive. For example, we will have another update near the end of March when Backerkit surveys go out. In saying that, let's get into today's update! 🙌
What is Backerkit?
What is Backerkit? BackerKit is a pledge management tool where backers and creators can manage relevant information pertaining to a crowdfunding campaign, in this case, A Time Traveler's Guide to Dinosaur Hunting!
You will be able to upgrade or add to your pledge, submit support requests, manage your shipping address, and pay for shipping. We will use Backerkit to distribute digital rewards, collect your shipping details, and finalize a count for all the items being made and distributed to our backers. This ensures we place informed orders with our manufacturer.
Later this month you will get an email from Backerkit called the backer survey. This will guide you through the process of finalizing your pledge. For many of you, this will be as simple as reviewing and confirming what you ordered, then entering your shipping address. Easy-peasy. Others will take this opportunity to add additional items or upgrade your pledge. It's entirely up to you.
We will keep your pledge and survey open for a few months. However, when we send surveys it's important to complete them as soon as possible so that we can begin to finalize item counts.

After their first successful Kickstarter for EXORDIUM: Origins of Mythos, our friends over at the Eren Chronicles are running a new campaign for a project inspired by the grim, cautionary tales of Slavic and Balkan folklore!
ZAMANORA: Ballad of the Witch introduces heaps of new content. Immersive mechanics, more than 20 character options, over 65 monsters, spells, curses, ceremonies, folkloric relics and adventure locales sprung from the realm of myth are only a part of what this rustic setting has to offer. Moreover, everything is going to be compatible with the latest edition of D&D!

You made the biggest dinosaur-themed supplement ever published for D&D possible!
You've come together and made an amazing community! It's been an absolute joy getting to know you throughout the month! ❤️ We really couldn't have asked for a better set of humans to help bring this project to life. And, WOW, you all really brought it to life! 👀 We raised $447,086 with 3,224 backers. This is by far the largest campaign Splattered Ink has ever worked on, and we have to thank you all for that!
Late Pledges
We have decided to enable late pledges here on Kickstarter for a short period of time, likely just a few days. There has been so much excitement and activity on the campaign in the last 48 hours that we didn't want to cut that short! We'll transition to Backerkit next week.
Next Steps - Post Campaign
We are currently building our Backerkit store and subsequent backer surveys. In the meantime, you can sit back and dream of dinosaurs! 💭 🦖

Kickstarter processes pledges
Kickstarter is going to begin to process payments for this campaign and the process can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks. When we get confirmation from them that this step is complete, we’ll send out BackerKit surveys!
BackerKit surveys
Backerkit is where you will manage pledge, add-ons, and other details such as your shipping information. Surveys will then be sent to you as a link via email to collect your shipping details and confirm your pledge and add-ons. You'll be able to upgrade your pledge and add additional add-ons if you wish! Surveys will be open until theproject moves into production, but to guarantee your order we suggest filling out the survey as soon as possible.
Digital Rewards
We will be distributing your digital files through BackerKit as rewards are completed.
Schedule
The schedule should look something like this:
Backerkit pledge manager opens: End of February or early March
Writing, playtesting, and edits: March - May
Product design, layout, and more playtesting: May - July
Orders are locked: End of July
Digital reward fulfillment begins: August
Manufacturing begins: September
Overseas freight: November - December
Physical rewards fulfillment begins: January 2026
The timeline above is reasonable, but not guaranteed. Production of game products can be somewhat unpredictable. The delivery date of June 2026 was provided initially on pledge tiers as a buffer in the event that delays occur. If they do and the above schedule changes, we will do our best to communicate all the details we have as they become available. That being said, we will strive to deliver all products by January of 2026 if not earlier.

First, thank you for being with us since before the campaign even started! You are awesome! Just as a reminder, your rewards will be automatically added to your account in Backerkit.
